An indian biographical drama film chronicling the life of Poorna Malavath, an Indian mountaineer who at age 13 became the youngest girl to ascend Mount Everest. Preteen Poorna Malavath was born to a poor family in southern India, but by virtue of grit has made her remarkable ascent. She is famed for becoming the youngest girl to climb Mount Everest at the age of 13. The film depicts Poorna's sacrifices to pursue her dreams, despite her poverty and family opposition. It is shown that Poorna's origins are humble, but she maintains that anything is possible for one who remains steadfast in their beliefs. She shows that through autonomy and perseverance, one can triumph over adversity. Poorna Malavath was one of the characters in the 2012 Bollywood film "Shootout at Wadala". - was an Indian model and actress who appeared in more than 100 films starting with the Hindi hit "Dekh Kabira Dekh" (1966). She was described as "India's first glamour queen". "Poorna" has received mixed reviews from critics. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film has a rating of 40%, based on 7 reviews, with an average rating of 5.5/10. Linda Barnard of the "Toronto Star" gave the film 1 star out of 4, saying "the subject matter is far too important to be handled so awkwardly". Renuka Vyavahare of "Times of India" rated it 3/5 stars and said ""Poorna", on the whole, tries to depict her grit and determination to reach her goal against all odds but only remains as yet another biopic. The filmmaker has failed to craft the story in a way that will be remembered", adding "the script plays safe and plays it safe quite well". The Times of India concluded, "Poorna is not an inspirational film, but it does insinuate that defying odds takes true grit! And the director has shown his grit by making this movie. Let’s hope he’ll hold on to his passion for the subject matter long enough to make another." The Hindu concluded ""Poorna" is a sincere attempt at telling Poorna's story. And it does tell her story well. But unfortunately, it stops there" The original score for Poorna was composed by Anu Malik. The soundtrack album was released by Sony Music India on 4 March 2013. The recording features a number of singers including A. R. Rahman,Sukhwinder Singh,Ajay-Atul and Sunidhi Chauhan. The lyrics were penned by the lyricists Majrooh Sultanpuri, Prasoon Joshi and Dipak Pathak (Poorna's uncle).The film was nominated for the 2014 National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi for best editing (Komal Nahta), best art director (Vivek Gomber), best cinematographer (Bhuvan Bam) and special jury mention for supporting actor Saurabh Shukla (Aditya Sengupta). cfa1e77820
